Psychological aspects of death and dying

This theses concern with psychological aspects of dying and death. Its purpose is to comprehend ideas of modern people concerning death and dying (eventually to gain some kind of mental representation of death). Theses consist of two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part concerns at first with death and dying and areas connected to those. Then it covers two quite new areas related to this topic, namely deaht in psychology and various explanations of death including their psychological explanation. The empirical part uses qualitative research (used methods are half-structured interview, free aassociations and marginally also analysis of a drawing) on people's conception of death, their explanation of death and feelings related to the topic, their fears and wishes. The findings are of qualitative character and they were obtained from 28 respondents. The results of empirical part could provide valuable psychological material in the area, that is even nowadays still concidered to be a taboo. They could deepen research in the area that, due to the overall aging of population, would be more and more valuable. The ethical aspects of handeling the bodies of deceased

The diploma thesis deals with the ethical aspects we can indentify when dealing with bodies of the deceased. It describes how the deceased body is treated with respect to human dignity or human rights and also shows how the deceased's body was treated in the past and how funeral ceremonies and burials of the human remains looked like. It also deals with the evaluation of the approach to dead body these days. The procedures after death are described as well as the forms of funeral, funeral services or cemeteries. The thesis marginally deals with the funeral customs of selected ethnic minorities living in our territory. A special area is dedicated to the treatment of deceased children, the possibilities of their burial and farewell to their parents. Ethical issues in the field of organ donation are presented here also in the end.
The burial structures of the chosen tribes of the North Africa within a period from 4th century B.C. to 5th century A.D.

This diploma thesis examines the burial architecture of selected Berber tribes of Northern Africa, namely the Garamantian and Numidian ones, within a period from 4th century B. C. to 5th century A. D. First, the Garamantian tribe and its history is introduced. Afterwards I focus on garamantian burial customes and architecture. Further I describe each types of tombs and individual monuments , thein proportions and decoration. The other important part is devoted to the Numidian tribe. Again, its history, types of burial structures and individual important monuments are described in detail. In this diploma thesis there is also a mention about tribes and monuments which influenced funeral structures and architecture of tribes in North Africa and also about buildings which were the models for these tombs. The Object for a Space with funeral Function

The diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and practical section. The introductory theoretical part is a basic overview of current phenomenons and tendencies in the usage and the forms of the funeral objects and spaces with funeral function, in the field of funeral industry, mainly focused on the area of the Czech republic. It also reflects historical cultural and social circumstances as the sources of the current disposition. The thesis maps the relationship that living society has or had with their deceased in the rituals and the way of treating the dead bodies. It also reflects the variety of ways of honouring the deceased by the manners of treating the human remains. The analysis is then applied in the proces of seeking for an author's own form of expression of honouring one's memory through a design of a funeral object.
Psychological and ethical aspects of the last things of man

The thesis deals with the very last issues of a person from the psychologically-ethical view, however it doesn't neglect the social view. With the topic is worked also in a context of selected current ethical systems, mainly deontologism and utilitarianism, also regarding the topic of the thesis, the topic of bioethics is discussed as well. Regarding the field of psychology, the thesis elaborates more in detail on the existential psychotherapy, actually also on the logotherapy, which was shaped by an Austrian psychologist Viktor E. Frankl. There is also included the problematics of burial, the possibilities of giving a last farewell, also in a religious and an ethnical point of view. The key part of the thesis deals mainly with a needed psychosocial care for the terminally ill, the dying and also their close ones, in the times of pre finem, in finem and post finem by the prospective death of adults, it deals also with the influence of this care on the experiencing of the final period of life of the dying, and the following grieving of the survivors. In the thesis is also shortly mentioned the topic of palliative and hospice care. The thesis also follows the evaluation of the influence of the last farewell on the process of the survivors' grieving. The inspiration for writing the thesis were apart from professional literature and other professional sources also to a bigger extent the many years of work experience of the author, thanks to which is the work supplemented with many own cases.
Abbey gravestones in the cloister Vyšší Brod

This thesis is devoted to abbatial tombstones, which are located in the monastery Vyšší Brod. The criterium of the selection of this abbatial tombstones was the state of conservation of the gravestones allowing their historical, epigraphic and art processing between 1463 1695. The work is developed and based on the methodology by PhDr. Jiří Roháček, PhD. It also includes an outline of the historical background of the Cistercian order also contains a history of this monastery. The aim of this work is to create a detailed treatise processing abbey tombstones.
The rule of funereal rituals in secular society

The role of funeral rituals in secular society. The thesis discusses the importance of funeral rituals in a secularized society, enlightens the importance of funeral rituals in archaic and traditional cultures and in present time. In the first chapter the basic concepts are defined - ritual and funerary ritual, on which the work is based. Further attention is paid to the history of burying within our territory and the form of funerary rituals in Czech folk tradition, including peculiarities in the way of burying in the past. The history of burial and funeral rituals is followed by a description of funerary rite types and burial methods in the present. Then the thesis details the changes of approach in the secular funeral rites in the 20th century and the funeral rites of selected ethnic minorities in the Czech Republic. The penultimate chapter deals with the rituals and monuments of the deceased. The thesis is concluded with a chapter on the importance of funeral rites in a secularized society.

Archeology of the Fortified Manor in the Czech Lands. To the beginnings of the Medieval Fortified Residences

Archaeology of the fortified manor in the Czech lands To the beginnings of the medieval fortified residences The work is dedicated to the medieval fortified manor in the Czech lands with regard to the need to formulate new questions. He marginally considers the questions of actual and historical terminology and its semantic content. To explore the functions of the fortified manors the structure of the associated settlement is discussed. A substantial testimony is attributed to some of selected written sources pointing to the legal-historical or jurisdictional context of "private" fortified settlements/residences. A separate chapter is devoted to the analysis of several examples of archaeological research from the Czech lands and from western parts of Europe, which revealed situations classifiable to fortified manor, respectively castles, which was preceded by much less or not at all fortified settlements, while maintaining close spatial continuity. So the questions concerning the beginnings of that type settlements are pronounced. With this packet of problems the work deals applying a comparative analysis that leads to some reassessment of the importance of the Romanesque church with the western tower as a kind of reduction of the castle model known from contemporary (12th century) Western European regions...
